Before I start, I should probably apologise for not being very active recently, especially in Infinite Histories. Much of my spare time recently has been occupied by the horrendously boring task of learning to drive. However, I'm hoping to be able to devote more of my time to the wiki again.

While browsing the wiki, it struck me how many pages there are that have been created and then left and forgotten about (many of which are actually mine - whoops); I don't really have any problem with this because I think it's great that people are coming up with so many ideas, whether they're successful or not, but I do get the feeling that they're cluttering up the wiki quite a lot.

Though this isn't a very scientific test, I tried clicking the 'Random…

So, there have been some conflicting edits as far as the Romanum universes go... But yeah, let me explain:

According to Psy's article on the Sons of Darius Traditionalist Militia: "The Militia was first formed in response to the aggressive actions of New Greece against the Old Persians"...

The Greeks gained independence in 1327 AD, indicating 1327 AD is when the Old Persians fell. However...

According to Robbo's article on the Sassanid Persian Empire: "The Persian Empire was founded in AD224, and has fared rather well due to its geographical position directly between the Roman Empire, the Chinese Imperial Union, and later the Xanjin Technologist Imperium.".

Thus, the Old Persians must've already been dead by 224 AD, and thus, the Sons of Darius…

Just recently, the new VisualEditor has been brought online on the entire Wikia network, forcing it upon all wikis on Wikia. Apparently there is no way to disable it from our end. However, before we all just surrender and accept it, I'd like this small little community of ours to come to a consensus. Personally for me the VisualEditor has been nothing but a hindrance. On other wikis I have worked on, it has broken pages and tables, and done all sorts of wacky things, despite it being advertised by Staff as a way of making editing easier.

However, that's just my personal opinion. What do all of you think?

If we decide that VisualEditor isn't going to help us, I will attempt to contact Wikia in an effort to disable the VisualEditor on IH. If t…

Hi, guys! King here, back from my leave of absence! Yay!

Unfortunately, the sabbatical didn't go well, and my goal of spending very little time on the iPad fell through, so I reasoned if I was going to spend lots of time on the iPad, I might as well do something productive. Therefore, I'm going back to editing here.

Do you think you could give me a summary of what I missed so I can get caught up? Thanks very much, and nice to see you again :)

After a roughly two-week long period of vacation, I regret to tell you that it might be a while before I'm back. Lately, I've started to realize that I'm spending far too much time using electronic devices, and I need to have a bit of time to enjoy the summer in a more physical sense. Plus, I've got a doosy of an idea for a new fantasy novel and I want to start writing. I'm not sure exactly how long I'll be gone, but I hope to be back by September.

I know this is fairly short notice, and I'm sorry, but to be honest, I've waited far too long to do this. Unfortunately, being one of the few remaining contributors, I may have chosen a bad time to leave. I hope this doesn't mean a further reduction in productivity here on the wiki. Believe me, …

Yesterday I decided to decipher the {{#if: parser function.

After around what seemed like an eternity, I finally did it.

Now, I plan to change the infobox templates in such a way that if we have an N/A field, we can just not put anything there at all and it'll disappear. How cool is that?

As you can see, I've changed up the Faction and Characters infoboxes already. Whew! The Character one was the hardest: it took around three hours of straight work to complete. My throat was parched when I finished the coding :P

Anyhoo, please change your articles to meet the new parameters of the infoboxes. It would be greatly appreciated if I didn't have to sift through 200+ pages for the appropriate pages all on my own. Thanks guys!

    With much loves,
    Yours tr…

As I've noticed recently, the featured articles of Infinite Histories aren't really all that good. Featured articles are meant to showcase the best writing IH has to offer. I think this is a major setback since potential new users have one look at the 'best' writing of the wiki and turn away because most of our featured articles are, to be honest, quite unworthy of being one.

Henceforth, I have removed all featured articles and stories until we can actually find some of the best writing on the wiki.

So, I had an idea for a new universe, and felt like writing it down somewhere, as well as see if there's any interest in the idea ATM. The universe doesn't have a name yet, but it will soon, hopefully.

    The basic premise is this:

In 2012 a terrorist organization destroyed several nuclear weapons and assassinated major leaders in the U.S., Russia, China, and the UK. Soon, war broke out between the countries, and most cities in North America, Europe, and Asia were bombed and destroyed. The war ravaged the entire planet until most major powers collapsed.

Several decades later, there are 4 main powers fighting for control:

    • A matriarchal society in which only females are allowed to become high-ranking military or political classes. Based Primarily i…

After reading and being involved in a lot of debates, I've been thinking a lot about what we designed Infinite Histories to be.

The main page says that IH is an expanding multiverse of alternate histories. We are not just focusing on Romanum, unlike GC's Omni 01 and ET's Erudite. No. We are supposed to put more focus on the MULTIVERSE. And yet, we are focusing only on Romanum! Why is this?

King is right: We could and should be more amazing than GC and ET combined...but we are not. Because we only focus on the survival of the Roman Empire scenario. We are definitely NOT what we advertise ourselves to be, which deters new users from coming in to edit.

I propose that we temporarily stop work on the Romanum universes altogether, and focus on other …

    Ascension Universes

    March 18, 2014 by Mr.Robbo

This post covers a number of subjects, not just Ascension universes.

When we first established the wiki over 300 days ago, we set out an overview of the purpose of the wiki (an alternate history wiki), and decided on rules to make sure this purpose is met; the focus will be Earth, and there will be no spreading beyond; universes will be alternate histories - 'what if?' scenarios. As the wiki developed, I gradually realised that the wiki was moving away from these original ideas; in some places, historical, economic, and even scientific accuracy began to be breached. A first I played along, but I still wasn't sure.

So I decided to leave the wiki for I while to see how it develops (giving away the IVC group of pages, which were quite active); …

    Greetings.

    October 13, 2013 by $17

I am $17, though you can just call me R17 or 17.

I and a friend of mine named OrkMarine, come from a wiki called [Creative Universes], he is the founder of the said wiki and I am one of his admins. Some of you may have heard of Creative Universes before, and I have seen that our wikis and Galactic Crucibles are affiliates, and now, I have decided to take some interest in this wiki.

Anyways, I was just wondering if any of you guys are interested in joining and contributing to Creative Universes as well. Perhaps we may see a great deal of cooperation and collaboration in the future, and maybe both of our wikis may see some new faces who are willing to join and expand both of our wikis as well, and improve on them.

So yeah, if you are interested…

    Multiverse Time!

    July 30, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

    Greetings, all!

To bring a new angle to the wiki, we want to encourage the idea of different worlds interacting (credit to Oblivion26) via multiverse transfer technology. Not all universes need to be included in this, but the idea should definitely make for some interesting stories and settings!

For examples, check out the Multiverse category. If you want to know more about the science, technology and philosophy of multiverse transfer, check out Multiverse Transfer.

Currently, anything to do with the multiverse is Fantastical. Whether we should make an exception for multiverse travel (such as with FTL in GC) is still to be discussed, though it looks like we can make an exception, so don't be changing any pages to Fantastical just yet!

    Kannin City Centre

    July 22, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

Draft description of Kannin Central Administrative District (Woo! Internet cafe!).

Kannin Central Administrative District was a monument to the National Control that constructed it. It was less of a district and more of a building (conforming with the latest trend in Persian architecture - that of the arcology - ultimately constructing a whole city that comprises of a single building). This building was a square comprising of four blocks, surrounded by a plaza of twelve more blocks (Xetra noted the various defensive advantages of the structures in this plaza).

The CAD itself was modular, angular and metallic, just like the huge skyscrapers that were dotted across the Kannin skyline, but twice as large, reaching a height of 1676 metres. Xetra…

Hello, everyone! I have some extremely exciting news to tell you all!

According to the WAM (Wikia's ranking system) we are in the Top 5000 of all wikis in the Wikia community (as of 24th July 2013)! Galactic Crucibles is also in the list: they are far above us in ranking.

Anyway, our current ranking is: 4974

With Hihipuffyamiyumi Wiki just above us and Basilica Wiki just below us.

I would like to see this wiki's rating soar, so invite any interested friends to join our community! Make IH grow! Put in as much content as you can! Let's make Infinite Histories one of the greatest, yet humblest communities in Wikia!

    WikiBuilder1147 signing off!

    Greetings, all!

I have come up with yet another three-way categorisation system to wow and amaze you!

I've noticed that this wiki has a lot of tandem histories and realised that this could lead to a problem. Namely, people could mistakenly edit an article that is actually part of a history by a single user, who would rather create a history on their own; people who want to make a tandem or 'public domain' article may also have problems getting other users to edit the articles.

Below is the categorisation system that I have devised to solve this problem.

Articles in this category are part of a history being made by a single user and should not be edited without that user's permission.

Articles in this category are part of a history made by a mul…

    Empire Week

    July 8, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

    Greetings all!

Exciting news! After many seconds of careful consideration and absolutely no discussion with the other administrators, I have decided that this week is European Empire Week!

The great European Empires lasted for centuries, and shepherded the world from being the sparse, simple, agrarian world of the medieval times to the sprawling disaster of the modern age! They have therefore had a considerabe effect on modern history and therefore even a tiny divergence to just one of these empires could lead to a big change to the world at large.

    The most expansive European Empires included the British Empire, the French Empire, the Spanish Empire and the Portugese Empire. Here're some ideas;

This history is almost as classic as 'What if Hit…

    Kanin from the air

    June 29, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

Draft description of Kannin from the air.

From the air Kannin was a very regular city, the wide streets made the grid system clearly visible. It was almost remarkable how big the city blocks were, though; the biggest in the world, he had heard someone remark. Big enough, in fact, for each block to have a central courtyard - outdoor atria, they called them - surrounded by those boxy, metallic, modular apartment blocks. The apartments weren't exactly high-rise, but this fact just made the immense, wide skyscrapers dotted here and there seem all the more massive. Cities in the sky, they called them! Home to thousands of people, with offices, schools and hospitals!

Though he didn't think much of their drab, metallic, boxy designs, Orselius could…

WikiBuilder will be working on a "huge Minecraft project" for the next few weeks, in his absence Pschycron and myself will be the "Acting Head Co-Admins." In his absence he wants us to:

    • Take care of Infinite Histories
    • Make a blog post on this
    • Take out the trash
    • Throw a party (if required)

That was what he told me, anyway. I'll be in charge of taking out any rubbish (is that taking outside or taking out with a sniper?), while Majoras is in charge of throwing any parties.

If you're wondering what exactly WikiBuilder is up to, he also left this link:

    Kannin

    June 28, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

    Draft description of Kannin

The small slum seemed like any other shanty town with its corrigated metal rooves and winding, constricted, alleyways, the only difference was that this slum was perfectly square, forced and strangled into conforming with Kannin's strict grid system. Xetra stood under a piece of blue tarpaulin, her hair and clothes already soaked through by the monsoon, surveying the scene. She already knew there was something wrong; even in this weather the slum was usually bustling with a life far more electrifying than any of the clean, clinical, planned streets and buildings in the city. Everything was just left there - clothes, bicycles, personal belongings - as if everyone had left in a hurry.

She felt a twinge of hope as sh…

    Wikia Novus

    May 22, 2013 by Pschycron

Tomorrow will be day 10, and I think a should give a small status report.

The Sandbox on the main page, added on day 2 with colaboration from Krayfish, has proved very useful. It needs a few modifications to bring it up to date. We also have the RandoGenerator templates, which I managed to bring online by day 4, which will need regular maintenance.

Scene as posting a link to the category pages just mucks everything up on the main page. I added a link to an index page the five main category pages using the Story:Index page for inspiration. This was done by day 8. Once this was done, I also added in the "Make Timeline" option to that page. We can still use the Create A Page button on the bottom of Main Page, but we should update it just-in-cas…

    Categories

    May 19, 2013 by Mr.Robbo

    Greetings all!

A few days ago Avetzan1 asked me whether he could make a history that involved magic. I was unsure, as I usually prefer histories that are made to be historically and scientifically accurate, so that they could have happened in real life. I thought about this, and decided I wanted Infinite Histories to be more 'open' than GC, where scientific accuracy is becoming increasingly important (not that it's a bad thing; I myself prefer hard sci-fi).

I have therefore created these three categories:

    • Divergent
    • Embellished
    • Fantastical

Each category page has a description of the types of universe the respective category is for, and I think these three categories will be able to encompass just about all of the universes planned for infinite hi…
