Took the liberty of starting the new thread. Continued from Thread:4662. Enjoy!
So far, the image slide on the main page is completely devoted to Romanum 01 content. Which is annoying, because we're trying to get away from that sort of thing. Could we change some of the slides or something? I mean, how about we add links to the Ascension Universes or the Interversal Revolution? Sure, we can keep the link to The Xanj Project or the main Romanum 01 page, but let's restrict it to just one Romanum slide. This is Infinite Histories, not the Romanum Wiki.
In relation to a comment I made on the Ascension 'Verses blog post, I've uploaded a number of maps which could be used for Ascension-1.
I (think) the File policy doesn't apply to them, since they were uploaded before April 20th. What I was thinking is that we could use Paint to create nations on it so that users have a general overview of what the world looks like. The question is, which one should we use?
I'd like a little input on which one is preferable.
As we all know, Infinite Histories' 1st birthday is coming up. What do you want to do for IH on the 14th May?
Right. We're changing the style of the wiki, or maybe not, but anyway, suggestions are welcome here!
I've been working on the Interversal Revolution for a while, but a combination of distractions, boredom and writer's block has made continuing it very difficult. Recently, it occurred to me - why am I the only one continuing it?
My original intention was for the Revolution to be a major story arc, comparable to GC's Chaos Crisis or ET's Shattering. But for this to be IH's big story arc, shouldn't IH write it? I don't have the knowledge or expertise to do this whole thing on my own. I need help.
What I was wondering was, could you pitch in and help make this a really major event, enough to noticeably dent the multiverse? Some stories would help, as well as having a lot of universes getting involved or bashed about. Additionally, I could use advising on what would be best for InterVersal Control and Aeolipile World, which I'm editing so they fit my plans for the revolution? Look, having a proper story arc would be really good for the wiki, and I can't pull the whole thing together solo. Can I please have assistance here?
There should be an article on the Greek Rebellion of Romanum 01. Since we really have very little info on the battles, so we'll need to discuss some ideas for the most important battles.
I already mentioned the battle of Tortona in the Arrow of Sparta article, but we still need a lot more.
Currently I have some ideas for battles, but not sure where they should take place.
- The first battle of the war, we always need that
- A battle in which a major railway town is fought over, the area is too densley populated for the Romans to bomb it, so Greek armoured trains would attempt to defend against The roman forces trying to sabotage the tracks.
- A battle in which the last Roman city in the area that became part of New Greece is conqured.
Those are just my immediate ideas, we obviously need more major battles, and a ton of minor battles just there to beef up the article.
Ok, after a while of thinking about it, i've realised that some aspects of the Romanum 01 universe haven't taken into account some minor or even major details. Such details include Religion, Politics, Law and Order, Science and so on. All of these are bound to have changed due to the temporal inccursion (Nevuchavazin finding the Nexus). I'll list out some issues I have noticed in due course.
Here are my own suggestions to resolve the issues. For starters:
- Religions. Christianity's spread to the Roman Empire would not have been easy, considering Israel was and is still part of Xanjon in this timeline. While it would not have been oppressed, Christ would probably not have gained as much recognition, without the martyr status. It's spread would not have been impossible, rather it might have gotten to Rome sooner. Islam, of course, would never have risen or not as we know it today.
- Egypt. Shortly after the first recorded instance of the Nexus appearing there, Egypt came under new leadership from the "Children of the Great Star", worshiping the Nexus as Ra's embodiment on Earth. When they discovered the Xanj had an affinity with this holy apparition, they decided to adopt Xanjin philosophy to try and gain understanding of the Nexus. In doing this, they became Hydronia and began reforms, such as abolishment of slavery. Of course, seen as religious oppression in the Arabic peninsula was abolished or at least frowned upon, Hebrews would of had it easier. But anyway, after Hydronia fell due to economic issues, Rome bought it out, and then it was conquered by Greece.
- Inventions of the 18th and 19th centuries. I've already stated that we have advanced A.I. as far back as the 1930s, and that the moon landing happened about a hundred years before real life's one. My solution: Rome not falling, plus Xanjon's added tech benefaction (from the Nexus aswell as a good 1,5 thousand years head start over of Rome) resulted in many inventions, such as firearms and other technology of the Industrial revolution, being moved back to about the 5th century.
- Cryptids and out-of-place creatures. Same as Xanjon has a form of omnivorous, digitigrade repto-cammels, we also have Terrorbirds. The former has existed for a few thousand years at the time Xanjin discovered Genetic engineering, so where did it come from? The Nexus! It IS after all a trans-universal portal, so these things probably came from another universe, imported or stolen. Most Cryptids could be explained the same way, but to avoid sounding lazy, we should probably redefine some of them to be more realistic and plausible, such as bigfoot being a type of erectile gorilla that was never wiped out by Roman settlers in America.
In response to discussion of an overarching storyline, I came up with a potential idea. Essentially, after existing for about 100-350 years, the IVC, once an anchor of stability in the interversal political sea, has become an oppressive, bureaucratic dictatorship. It maintains near-complete control over a number of universes, breaking the policy of non-interference and neutrality to the point of contaminating several timelines, all to satisfy their own selfish needs. And it's members have been genetically engineered and given cyborg implants to the point where they have become a new species - Homo superior, or whatever else we want to call them. Essentially, they are racist, oppressive, tyrannical, greedy and corrupt, rotten to the core.
As a result, a number of IVC bases, located mainly in the Crossroads and Romanum universes, end up rebelling against the IVC's rule. A complex web of alliances turns this into a conflict spanning multiple universes and embroiling hundreds of countries and factions. It's essentially the two (or more) world wars crossed with the Last Great Time War. By the end, the IVC has been destroyed, but countless universes have been contaminated, Crossroads is in ruins and relatively stable wormholes have been left all over the place (similar to Stone Rings), allowing people to travel between universes with relatively low levels of tech.
Any thoughts, opinions and/or suggestions? Remember, it's a first draft.
Well, I've suggested in the past that we have a storyline that covers all of Infinite Histories. I realize that there are blogs that mention ideas, but I figure it would be best if there was a single location where all of our ideas were. Having an overall plot helps to unify all of our stories here. It's a means to making our wiki unique. I am thinking that we should aim to have the equivalent of Chaos Crisis at the very least.
From what I've heard so far, the main story involves a conflict between multiple universes. This blog sums up the main idea: Multiverse Time!. Notably, there was this quote:
"It currently seems most likely that any overall plot would involve a combination of the Xenotech Nexus and IVC (on the Xenotech Nexus page there is a Source with references to IVC terminology). I guess we'll see."
Idea list:
- Highly advanced civilizations are using alternate timelines to their advantage somehow.
- Civilizations capable of exploiting the resources of other universes.
Science:
How much science fiction are we willing to include? Certainly, Multiverse Travel is to Infinite Histories as FTL is to Galactic Crucibles. Would multiverse travel be a recent discovery or something that has been around for some time?
