The Chinese Imperial Union is a faction that was established in the south-east of Greater Asia in 202 BCE. The capital of the CIU is Beijing. It has a large presence in the Romanum universes and is one of the Romanum 01's five superpowers.

Government[]

The Chinese Imperial Union is a constitutional monarchy, where the Emperor has limited power. The head of government is the Prime Minister of China, who leads a legislative cabinet known as the Imperial Ministers' Council. The Prime Minister is appointed by the Emperor out of a range of candidates nominated by the National Leadership Authority. While all candidates must sit for an exam which proves their ability to lead the country, the final decision lies in the hands of the Emperor.

History[]

Main article: Timeline of Chinese history

When the Qin Dynasty of the Chinese Empire fell in 206 BCE to Liu Bang, China collapsed into a civil war which lasted approximately 3 years. After the end of this war, delegates from each warring faction met to discuss peace terms. This delegation, the Chinese Reunification Council, lasted until 202 BCE when it was decided that Han Gaozu, king of the Han, would become the new emperor. It was then that the Han Dynasty was established.

The CRC continued to discuss what form the Imperial state should continue in. Some wanted it restored to its former position, but the majority voted to install a constitutional monarchy, known as the Chinese Imperial Union. On 7th March 202 BCE, Han Gaozu was crowned the first Emperor of the Union. By 1023, China had conquered its northern neighbour, Mongolia, and expanded westward to become almost as large as present-day China in the real world.

Naval history[]

In 1132, the Imperial government ruled that the CIU would begin the development of a naval force, declaring that they had expanded all they could without a navy. By 1134, China had a navy of over 130 vessels, under the command of Admiral Dong Bao.

In 1243, China began the colonisation of Japan. One after the other, the Japanese shogunates swiftly fell to the Chinese navy.

Encounter with Rome[]

In 1670, a Roman trading fleet sailed into Chinese territory and dropped anchor in Sumatra. It was then that the CIU first encountered the Romans. The Romans subsequently loaned Sumatra from the CIU. This established friendly relations between the Chinese Imperial Union and the Roman Empire.
