Labória is the capital and the largest city of South Arawak. It has a population of 3.62 million (around a sixth of the country's total population) and its city centre is home to the Presidential Palace and the Palace of the Arawak National People's Assembly. Founded in 1639 by Roman colonists under the name Monsvidius, its name was changed to its present form when socialist revolutionaries under Marshal Raúl Milano captured the city in 2001.
